Frequently Asked Questions

Does getting a tattoo hurt?

Short answer, yes. Long answer, it depends! There are lots of variables that impact the pain a person feels while getting a tattoo – from their own pain threshold to the placement of the tattoo and even the artist’s techniques. Lulu prides herself in making the experience as comfortable as possible for her clients.

How much is a full sleeve?

Lulu works by sessions, not by piece or project. This means that we can give you an estimate for how many sessions it may be to complete a project. However, that estimate can vary depending on the final design, the level of detail, and the anatomy of the area amongst other factors. Contact us and we’d be happy to help!

Do you do cover ups?

On a case by case basis. Send us an email or text with what you’d like to cover and we’d be happy to give you our recommendations!

What should I not bring to my appointment?

Anything/anyone that may add stress to the day. Lulu’s sessions are the full day, and tattoos can be intense. If you’d like to bring a companion, make sure it’s someone who will support you!
Do not bring substances with you that are not over-the-counter medications or necessary prescriptions.

What should I bring to my appointment?

An open mind and lots of ideas and references for your vision!
Be mindful of placement! If the tattoo will be in an intimate zone, make sure to wear or bring clothes with zippers or ties that can be adjusted to your liking. Black clothes are ideal in case some ink gets on it!
Bring snacks and lots of water, possibly some pain relievers or anti-inflammatory meds for afterwards.
A pillow and a blanket are great comfort items, as well as headphones and some kind of entertainment (or distraction)

Do I need to do anything before my appt?

Protect your skin, keep out of the sun and try not to get any scratches or cuts. Wear sunscreen or protective clothing whenever possible! Have a good meal prior to the start of the appointment, some people find it difficult to eat during and fuel is key.

Where are you located, and do you travel?

Lulu is based out of a private studio in the Wynwood District of Miami, FL. We do travel, and if you’d like to know our upcoming trips, check our social media or contact us!

Do you use numbing creams or products or do I bring my own?

Numbing agents can change the texture of the skin, affecting the tattooing process both at the session and in the healing process. We tend to find that tattoos done with numbing creams require a touch up or follow up session, so keep this in mind. If necessary, Lulu does use numbing soaps throughout the session when needed, we do recommend a cream for you to buy beforehand and bring to the appointment for Lulu to apply. Make sure to ask us about this when booking!
